Arch bridge features:
The history of arch bridge construction in China is hundreds of years later than that of ancient Rome, which is famous for arch bridge construction. However, arch bridges in our country are unique. There are so many forms and beauty that are rare in the world.
There are single holes and multiple holes in the number of holes. The odd number is more than the even number. For a porous arch bridge, if the main arch of a certain hole is loaded, the load can be transferred from near to far through the deformation of the bridge pier or the action of the structure on the arch. Transfer to the main arch of other holes, such an arch bridge is called continuous arch bridge, abbreviated as continuous arch;
The three-, five-, seven-, and nine-hole stone arch bridges in Jiangsu and Zhejiang water towns generally have the largest central holes, and the diameters of the two sides decrease in proportion to each other. The piers are narrow and light, with a uniform pattern, which is admirable. Due to the proper matching of the bridge holes, the whole bridge is coordinated and symmetrical, and the natural falling slope is not only convenient for pedestrians to go up and down, but also for the shipping of various ships. According to the building materials, there are stone arches, wooden arches, brick arches, bamboo arches and masonry arches.
The arch ring or arch rib which bears the axial pressure as the main load-bearing component of the bridge, the arch structure is composed of the arch ring (arch rib) and its support. Arch bridges can be constructed with materials with good compressive properties such as brick, stone, concrete, etc.; long-span arch bridges are constructed with reinforced concrete or steel to withstand the moments that occur. According to the static system of the arch ring, it can be divided into non-hinge arch, double-hinge arch, and three-hinge arch. The former two are statically indeterminate structures, while the latter is statically indeterminate structures.
For three-hinged arches, a hinge is added to the dome of a double-hinged arch. The rigidity of the structure is worse. The structure and maintenance of the dome hinge are also more complicated, and it is generally not suitable for the main arch ring. Arch bridges can be divided into slab arches, rib arches, double-curved arches, box arches, and truss arches according to their structural forms. Arch bridge is one of the basic bridge systems and has always been the main form of long-span bridges. Arch bridge architecture has a long history, developed rapidly in the 20th century, and reached its heyday before the 1950s.
