Comparison Of Several Steel Bridge Deck Pavements

Different asphalt paving materials used for steel bridge deck paving have obvious differences not only in performance but also in construction technology and project cost. Judging from the actual application in many countries, in terms of performance and service life, epoxy asphalt pavement is the best, followed by cast asphalt and SMA, and ordinary asphalt is the worst. In terms of construction technology, the epoxy asphalt mixture mixing process is not too complicated, but the temperature and time control are very strict; the pouring asphalt process is more special and requires special mixing equipment; SMA is only more complicated than ordinary asphalt pavement. In terms of engineering cost, if compared with the same thickness, epoxy asphalt pavement cost is the highest, followed by pouring asphalt paving. SMA is about 20% to 30% more expensive than ordinary asphalt, but it is more expensive than epoxy asphalt and pouring asphalt. Asphalt is low. However, due to the high strength of epoxy asphalt, the paving layer can be thinned, reducing its own weight, and helping to reduce the cost; the thickness of the pouring asphalt paving layer is also thin, or it can be used in combination with ordinary asphalt paving.
